Charles Bukowski:
“The difference between (modern) democracy and a dictatorship
is that in a democracy you vote first and take orders later;
in a dictatorship you don’t have to waste your time voting.”

Remember that Leisure Isle Festival is this weekend. They are showing the rugby so no excuse not to go early. All profits to charity so give your support and enjoy one of the most beautiful areas Knysna has to offer.

KNYSNA “COCAINE TRIAL” BEGINS
Some said “urban legend” to what others called “common knowledge” that Knysna is a drug hub with trafficking through The Heads into the harbour that lacks port control. The latter prevailed when, on December 10 201o, police made the biggest cocaine bust in South African history… – www.knysnakeep.org/knysna-cocaine-trial-begins.

ALL COUNCILLORS MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE
All politicians should be held liable by their constituents. I’m hoping that you do too. It’s totally unacceptable that a politician can lie to get elected and then reap 5 years of high salaries that can’t be challenged. Politicians must be accountable for their actions or non-actions. I’d previously promised to compose a commitment form to be presented to local politicians but have been saved the composition by adapting an already made form by Jim Powell, the founder of Direct Democracy SA. Ask yourself, is this not what you’d want from your local councillor? Would you want them to sign this?… – www.knysnakeep.org/councillors-must-be-held-accountable.

POLITICIANS ARE EMPLOYEES OF THE VOTERS
In a democracy, there would have been no Dali Lama issue, Cele would have been suspended during investigation, the DA and ANC would have to “play” by the same rules, and Georlene Wolmarans would not be the Mayor of Knysna. Instead, as citizens, we have lost control of our lives. One way is to get that back is to ensure that all politicians are held accountable by their voters. Hand in hand, good politicians get voted back in or promoted. Doing good can benefit both sides…. – www.knysnakeep.org/politicians-are-the-employees-of-the-voters.

INSPIRATIONAL VIDEO: GET UP!
Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward? That’s how winning is done!” – www.knysnakeep.org/inspirational-video-get-up.

I was very happy when a mate of mine told me that these past October holidays were bigger for his restaurant than April’s. Town certainly looked busier. I’m hoping that many more of you benefitted too!

Wicked Mike
