RACISM IS THE IDIOT’S EXCUSE yet was present far too often during our Knysna fire crisis! My pages, Love Knysna and Knysna Keep, aim for a better Knysna through bravery, transparency, honesty and greater citizen rights. That means both promoting and informing our town, and fighting the corrupt, dark heart of Cape Town that dominates us. As importantly, these pages are about telling you to be less afraid /or/ supportive of those in dictatorial power. Know your enemy! Consequently, fundamentals include encouraging you to think for yourselves whilst standing up for human rights. In particular, racism is the idiot’s excuse to …‘Click here to read full article…’
It was shocking to hear of a visitor to Knysna being involved in a scary incident of racism on Thesen Islands’ on December 11. It allegedly culminated in a white man running and pointing a gun towards a coloured man getting away in his car. The incident was apparently watched by many, by the staff and customers of Col’Cacchio’s Pizzeria, next to the kids’ playground. The victim’s fiancée claims that the Knysna SAPS then mistakenly arrested her partner. When this was made aware, both perpetrator and victim were taken to the Knysna police station where the victim was told that …‘Click here to read full article…’
Earlier this month, an alleged racist incident in Knysna Heights spread like wildfire online. Even Mayor Georlene Wolmarans seized the opportunity to publish an anti-racism press release. Finally, the other side, is being told in more detail. As Nathier Abrahams was given a spot to share his story, so must Justus Burger be given that chance. Unfortunately for Burger, news cycles tend to run hot for a few days and then cool down. He’s unlikely to receive the same attention but i can hope that my regular readers consider all points of view so as to make their own minds …‘Click here to read full article…’
I understand people having different cultures but racism disgusts me. It’s something i’ve spoken about many times from my online platforms. But when politicians use race as an election campaign, we need to be scared. All of us, of every colour, should rebel against those using hate to divide us further. Election campaigns should be run on evidence of past successes and clearly stated plans for the future, not on finger-pointing! Gareth Cliff is currently the unfortunate man and victim of the ‘racist’ moment, a moment that has lasted more than a very long week in South Africa. He got …‘Click here to read full article…’
Within 15 years in South Africa, at the current ‘growth’ rate, there will be 91 Blacks, 7 Coloureds, 1 Asian and 1 White in every group of 100 people below the age of 24. Race will be hardly an issue as Blacks will dominate. As my readers know, i hate bigots judging people by the colour of their skin but my feelings on the matter don’t remove racism from our country. Additionally, we cannot ignore that associated social problems such as unemployment and poor education are highest amongst the Black demographic. That’s not the result of White persecution but the …‘Click here to read full article…’
Then there’s the feminism aspect that totally ignored that i’d begun my blog about the overweight officer with, “I don’t believe in being cruel regards weight. For that reason, i’ve cut off the face of the lady involved here. People should live their lives the way they want to.” Enforcement officers were the exception. I take offence when being falsely accused or one of my posts is hijacked for ulterior motives (whether the commentators are aware of their bias or not). Is a woman still a feminist if she uses any agenda to foster illogical hate between men and women? …‘Click here to read full article…’
South Africa can’t escape the R-Word where it’s as embedded as the well-known products Marmite and Handy Andy. And in the small town of Knysna, where rich and poor areas are alongside (or have a clear view of) one another, racism is particularly unavoidable. Yesterday, i posted a brief blog entitled ‘Knysna’s Overweight Law Enforcers’ with a photograph of a local traffic officer’s bum. That has yet to go out to my mailing list but the even shorter version on my Facebook prompted an outcry by some that had little to do with the topic itself. Accusations of racism and not …‘Click here to read full article…’
Afrikaner Blood is an 8 minute documentary of video interviews and still photographs capturing right-wing Afrikaners training teenagers to hate. It’s worth your time… Visit the filmmaker’s website for more info – www.froginatent.com.
The Facebook reaction to this post is for some to ridiculously call me racist instead of entering reasonable discussion that’s on topic and towards a better South Africa for all. I hope that some will think before jumping, gaining perspective of my position by first viewing some of my previous thoughts on racists and racism.
