Oakhill Odyssey in Knysna

I was impressed to read about Oakhill School’s plan to build their students with a 400km, physical and mental challenge in 2012. If you follow the link to the press release below, Headmaster Shane Kidwell presents the aim of the Oakhill Odyssey eloquently. My applause is for more blunt reasons. Kids of today have it too easy and the result is often quite shocking when in the company of their parents. The Playstation Generation, mostly white children, are too mollycoddled. Good projects and ideas should be supported for what they are and not according to whoever is in power. In the case of South Africa, i’d be referring to those most likely to govern a town; the ANC (African National Congress) and the DA (Democratic Alliance). I say that because The Keep wants to deal with whoever will help and support.
