THE PAST 33 291 people were reached this past week on my Love Knysna Facebook! 118 new subscribers – the #1 community news page in Knysna, bigger than all our local newspapers, Knysna Tourism and Knysna Municipality combined, far bigger than the political propaganda pages that were erected to try take me, as the activist behind this page, down. That success is part stubbornness and hard work. Importantly, that success is because you have shown interest in the beautiful and crazy happenings in our town! THE WAY FORWARD As stated previously, big changes are afoot here but the goal remains … ‘Click here to read full article…’
“You will never stand taller than when you kneel to help a child,” is a grand quote of sacrifice and community that we should all live by. However, when you become a volunteer at Love Knysna Projects, your only goal in kneeling is so that you can see children smile… and they can see you do the same. Volunteering has never been easier. We don’t expect money donations, just your your time and your positive attitude. The goal is to have fun whilst taking children on excursions to fun places in Knysna. These trips range from beach picnics and hikes … ‘Click here to read full article…’

WE NEED We need local political and municipal leaders who put an emphasis on public service, not self-service. We need political representation that puts us, the public, first (unclouded by provincial or national interests). We need Councillors who are willing to sign a commitment form… and be voted out of office if they fail in their duty to do their best to uphold their election goals. We need elected officials whose agenda and constitution are easy to understand. We need plain speaking political parties and independents that seek and deliver understanding of how our local government works; the state of … ‘Click here to read full article…’
After i posted my open letter with many queries to the traffic department regarding the reason for fines and their breakdown, i was emailed many queries regards the laws themselves, especially speed cameras. Many rules govern the legality of speeding fines so there’s a strong likelihood that traffic officers are not obeying them. Know the rules. This is not so that you can disobey them (speed kills) but so that you can defend yourself when you are in the right and the traffic cops are in the wrong. These are extracts from the Prosecuting Guidelines for Speed Measuring Equipment and … ‘Click here to read full article…’
Knysna is rich. Our forests, mountains, beaches, lakes and estuary are a proverbial goldmine begging to develop into a bigger economy stimulated by nature lovers, from bird watchers to honeymooners wanting to escape their concrete jails. There is no need to submit to the “create jobs” mantra that gross, irresponsible developers keep making to Knysna. We already have all the natural resources we need to improve our lives. What we lack is good management.'Click here to read full article...'

It’s been an interesting year filled with joys and challenges. I find it important to remind myself (and you) what this is all for. It’s been 4 years of offering free services to Knysna. In the beginning, it was simply to make a contribution to this town i love so much but, as hardships became apparent, the goal broadened into wanting to create positive change. This has meant wearing two hats; one that boasts about our town’s beauties whilst the other tackles the problems that threaten her.'Click here to read full article...'
My name is Mike Hampton but most will know me by my blogging name, Wicked Mike. I am a activist, charity worker, web designer and blogger. I’d like to be considered as a community helper but my writings have gained me both supporters and detractors. It’s a contradiction that’s emphasised by falsehoods spread by some of those I oppose. I try erase misunderstanding whenever I have the opportunity for a face to face conversation because knowing of me is not the same as knowing me. I’ve shone a light, deliberately controversially but with truth, on the shadow areas of Knysna … ‘Click here to read full article…’
