Five surgeons are discussing who makes the best patients to operate on. The first surgeon, from Johannesburg, says, ‘I like to see accountants on my operating table because when you open them up, everything inside is numbered.’ The second, from Durban, responds, ‘Yeah, but you should try electricians! Everything inside them is color coded.’ The third surgeon, from Cape Town, says, ‘No, I really think librarians are the best, everything inside them is in alphabetical order.’ The fourth surgeon, from Pretoria chimes in: ‘You know, I like construction workers…those guys always understand when you have a few parts left over.’ … ‘Click here to read full article…’
A Winter’s parable on Worker’s Day observed, to remind us of those that work hard but don’t earn enough… those who want to work but sit unemployed…. and especially those who try father and mother shivering children who don’t have school shoes and are screaming hungry inside… this is for those struggling in a South Africa, a Rainbow Nation to the politically greedy and corporate thieving… HUNGER For six days, i left the world around me and entered a desert devoid of life On the second day, the Devil paid me a visit Giggling, he tortured me but soon tired … ‘Click here to read full article…’
There’s more morality in stopping bloodletting and hunger than there’s in identifying, defining and segregating the complexities of genitalia. I love music and i believe in equality for all so i love it when musicians use their celebrity to stand up for a better world. What happens in the USA matters because young adults in emerging countries such as ours seem so influenced by their movies and culture. Consequently, it’s been horrifying to witness religious nuts get more power in the USA. Terribly, there’s been a backlash against women’s right to choose and gay marriage. The latest is the debate … ‘Click here to read full article…’
I’m thankful to the drought for making us truly appreciate today’s wetness. It’s important that we never take our weather, our world, our anything for granted. The rain dances from the sky to me and you as liquid life wanting to grow flowers and our spirits empower We should also never underestimate the power of knowledge that affects our future. I say that whilst thinking about Knysna’s water supply problem. How much water goes into our dam? How much water do we use? How much water is lost in between due to broken pipes? Will Knysna Municipality tell us? Will … ‘Click here to read full article…’
Straight, gay, bi – be whatever you want. It’s beyond comprehension that some people think that who anyone sleeps with is more important than the hungry, homeless and poorly educated. Let alone any of their business. Hell, we may still have revolution in SA one day. Prerogatives, people, prerogatives. Practicing acceptance is more fruitful than bigotry can ever be. I like how this video makes fun for a purpose…'Click here to read full article...'
I’m not going to deny being an animal called human. Life is a learning curve. I, like you, can be counted by whether i chose to learn or not. I don’t agree with some of my attitude at WickedMike.com. Far too often i was mocking of people, religion etc. I wanted a better world and was criticising the inferior life we’re living… but, too often, it seemed, uncomfortably, as if i was acting from an arrogance i hadn’t earned. I still believe that we must fight for that better world but, more practically, when possible, from a position of tolerance … ‘Click here to read full article…’
I don’t celebrate xmas, my birthday etc. I’m more interested in how we treat each other everyday and the difference between right and wrong rather than anything that divides us. I particular dislike that, for many, consumerism has replaced the real value of gift-giving on days such as xmas, easter and valentines. BUT I DO WISH YOU ALL HAPPINESS TODAY, whether you’re celebrating in the religious or the secular/cultural sense. If today becomes, in any way, a day of stress for you, then you’re doing something wrong. Rethink your approach and try again because it’s important that you enjoy it. … ‘Click here to read full article…’
There are wonderful people on the Love Knysna Facebook. This blog isn’t about them but it is for them in that i feel like i should always explain to the loyal readers there. Considering the law of averages, every kind of person is likely on my Facebook page with its almost 5000 subscribers [update: 7400 at June 26 2016]. There will be the kindest souls and hard workers as well as fraudsters and murderers. Society is made up of it all. I don’t have control over all that but i do have control over some of what i experience here. … ‘Click here to read full article…’
It’s happening all over the world but is highly notable in the comment sections of South Africa’s online media. The anger, hatred and bias of readers are tools used by media companies to gain more attention. Despicable but true. This video explains how our negative emotions, the worst sides of ourselves, are more successful at breeding than the good ones are. Yep, the human race is sick… or, more worryingly, that’s normal.'Click here to read full article...'
