Firstly, congratulations on your appointment/election to the 2016/2021 Knysna Town Council. I hope that your term of service is both productive and satisfying.
Inherent to your position is political and administrative oversight. It’s essential that you embrace that as one of your greatest responsibilities. Note that it isn’t optional but a legal obligation.
Failure to act on information of wrongdoing that you’ve been supplied would make you culpable.
If any new councillors doubt my statement, i recommend that they query more experienced councillors and the Knysna Municipality’s legal advisor.
When reviewing my Elephants in the Room complaint, you should consider:
- Do you want to be held legally responsible for the mess & crimes of others?
- Is political party bias more important than personal consequences?
- Do you serve the public of Knysna first?
