In yesterday’s Knysna’s Mayoral Committee meeting, councillors were informed that there would be a delay in the intended delivery of much-needed housing to the Qolweni and Bloemfontein areas.
ANC Councillor Wiseman Litoli was upset, saying that there’d been promises and that, “If we’re playing with the emotions of the people, we’re inviting war.”
Town Planner, Mike Maughn-Brown, insisted that he had previously said that the Knysna Municipality could not commit to time frames as there are “processes out of control”. In this case, it is the EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) which must come from provincial government.
Brown went further to say that although they’d miss the deadline for the new budget year, Province said that they’d help when environmental approval was gained and if money was available.
