Steven Langlands, a senior staff member of the Knysna Municipality, was attacked with a knife by a car guard in the parking lot of Myoli Beach in Sedgefield yesterday.
Thankfully, there were only minor cuts.
This can also serve as further warning to the public and local businesses to report fake car guards.
I’m in admiration of Langlands for continuing his work immediately after the attack but also hope that this will be encouragement to Local Law Enforcement and the SAPS to finally, and effectively, address the ongoing problem of aggressive car guards in Knysna.

PS: The newspaper lists Langlands as the Manager Protection Services. Richard Meyer fills that position. It’s possible that Langlands, the Manager Waste Management, was filling in.
NB: Red-bibbed car guards are legal, green-bibbed are not.
