Pariksha Gobrie, Knysna Municipality’s Director of Finance, has quit, giving only 3 week’s notice. Although her final day of work is August 12, her automatic email response says that Fredri Kruger is now Acting CFO.
Although a name wasn’t mentioned, the Knysna Knews page has stated that “due to political interference, we have just lost yet another essential person in top directorate position… the DA caucus certainly has a lot to answer for.”
Knysna Knews is obviously referring to the alleged and ongoing battle that involves DA Councillor Peter Myers and DA Mayoral Candidate Eleanore Bouw-Spies versus Municipal Manager Grant Easton. An independent investigation into Grant Easton began last week.
When Knysna Knews refers to “another”, they’ll be meaning Director of Planning, Mike Maughan-Brown, who departed a month ago.
The hypocrisy is huge – Knysna Knews was used as a DA weapon to try discredit me. Now it’s being used against the DA. Knysna Knews obviously has inside info but until an author owns up to it’s controversial, emotional posts, it cannot be trusted.
Although run anonymously, i have previously shown that it’s linked to Advocate Julie Seton and other DA members such as Deputy Mayor Esme Edge. Notably, both were DA candidates for the forthcoming election but, after a faction battle they seem to have lost to Myers and Bouw-Spies, were pushed so far down the list that they will not gain office. Their response was to quit. Both have supported Easton. Grobrie, by extension, has been said to be Easton’s ally.
As with the Maughan-Brown situation, the Knysna Municipality is claiming that Gobrie’s reasons for resignation are confidential.
Pariksha Gobrie only worked for Knysna Municipality for 8 months. Did she have have personal reasons for leaving or did she make a smart move by getting out?
This post is not about assigning innocence or guilt. Apart from being a news item, it’s meant to insist that readers consider that there’s an ongoing war for power in Knysna that’s bigger than party politics.
