Politics is rough. In my experience in Eden District, South Africa, it’s rarely for the people it’s suppose to serve. It’s both the ANC and DA against the public (my site is filled with examples). The word ‘politician’ should denote respect but instead it’s become a swear word amongst the general public. There seems to be corruption everywhere, from Plettenberg Bay, through my beloved Knysna, to Oudtshoorn. I’ve spoken to you about Hardy Mills, the attorney before. He’s good at his job; a fine municipal lawyer and a strong litigator. On a personal level, he’s an intelligent and fun conversationalist, … ‘Click here to read full article…’
Ivan Meyer, the Western Cape leader of the DA, led a protest march in Oudtshoorn yesterday. This is the press release he issued thereafter: Today I, along with hundreds of DA-supporters and other concerned residents, marched to the municipal offices in Oudtshoorn to demonstrate our concern for the state of democracy here. For longer than a year, the ANC/Icosa/NPP alliance have fiercely and undemocratically clung to power in Oudtshoorn, despite the fact that the DA won a by-election in August last year which gave us control of the Oudtshoorn council. Today the people of Oudsthoorn said enough is enough. Residents … ‘Click here to read full article…’
Why should my Knysna and Plettenberg Bay readers care about Oudtshoorn? Because we all fall under Eden District and the same big politicians who are suppose to be fighting for OUR rights have repeatedly shown THEIR true faces there. Helen Zille has gone public with the accusation that the ANC has refused to hand over Oudtshoorn despite the DA having a majority. Drewan Baird’s blog explains why that’s hogwash and describes how the DA totally screwed up. It must be noted that Baird gets work from the ANC-led municipality which makes me consider him biased but, nevertheless, he has access … ‘Click here to read full article…’
I’ve said it before and i’ll keep on saying it: The war between the DA and the ANC has only one outcome – the public loses! The crisis in Oudtshoorn is the perfect example. It’s utterly bizarre that the political and social earthquakes being experienced in Eden District (which includes Oudsthoorn, Knysna and Plettenberg Bay) have been mostly absent from mainstream media. Falling under the Western Cape, it’s predictable (or should i say unforgivably understandable) that the heat between opposition forces would be the hottest in the only DA-led province.'Click here to read full article...'
