In a world that were fair and in a democracy that truly represented us, The People, Georlene Wolmarans would not have become the DA Mayor of Knysna. Now that the Helen Zille/Patricia de Lille deal has concluded, i can at least hope that we’ll have a new mayor after the 2016 municipal elections. Why do i criticise Georlene again? Or maybe the question should be why don’t i criticise her daily? I was pleased that the Knysna Municipality got some ratepayer information flow on the go when i read an on online ‘Council News’ newsletter. This is the merry-go-round i’ve been forced to ‘play’ on for 2 years, 8 months, 2 weeks and 5 days – i’ve been denied access to information that should’ve have been public. The deniers have been the Knysna Municipality and the DA. Even the ‘DA Corruption Hotline’ and ‘DA-run Eden District Anti Fraud Hotline’ have remained silent to my submissions. The press statement begins with: “The Eden District Municipality took the lead in fighting corruption by launching an Eden anti-fraud and anti-corruption hotline.” [Knysna and Plett fall under Eden District]. With history in mind, that would appear to be a joke. After all, their DA Mayor, Wessie van der Westhuizen, had a disciplinary committee vote unanimously that he should be removed as a councillor after he was found guilty on breaching the Municipal Finance Management Act and the Councillor’s code of conduct.
