Xenophobia frightens hell into me, not only as a member of a minority group but as a human being trying to see a future for us all in a South Africa that never stops crying. Xenophobia has struck our small town of Knysna before and we, as a community, did little if anything about it. When people blame the distant past because they screwed up the present, they do not deserve to be leaders. I’m talking about Jacob Zuma, of course. What makes his blame even more detestable is that he uses race as a weapon just like one of his cronies recently did with the riots in Soweto. Promoting hate is not a good leadership quality either. Surely there are good ANC members in Knysna who disagree with him on this??? If so, why are they so silent? Is it because a salary is more important to them than human rights?
