Interview: Ex-Knysna-Plett Herald Editor, Ingrid Erlank

Ingrid Erlank

The most positive comments i’ve heard from the public regards our local media was aimed at Ingrid Erlank who was the Editor of the Knysna-Plett Herald for 8 months. Last week’s edition carried a sudden third-person notification that she’d resigned. I was aware from several sources that she was under lots of political and municipal pressure regarding her taking the newspaper in a direction that included exposing local government failures. She agreed to an interview on Knysna Keep which i’m grateful to receive although i’m disappointed that she evaded telling us exactly what happened. Nevertheless, there’s enough here to interest … ‘Click here to read full article…’

Knysna Tourism’s Marketing Manager Proves His Innocence

Knysna Keep Posted on Aug 27, 2014 by Mike HamptonAug 27, 2014

At the Knysna Tourism AGM last night, Lisette Withers, co-owner of the Knysna Elephant Park made a query that implied that Johan van Schalkwyk, the Marketing Manager for Knysna Tourism, had benefited illegally when his visiting family’s accommodation had been paid by Tourism. Greg Vogt, the CEO of Knysna Tourism, responded with (paraphrasing according to the other players i’ll soon introduce), “That must be the Knysna Hollow incident. It was dealt with internally which goes to show that we’ve got good checks and balances in place.” By saying such, he basically said that something was wrong and seemed to confirm … ‘Click here to read full article…’

Some Enemies Pounce But Most Crawl

Knysna Keep Posted on Aug 16, 2014 by Mike HamptonApr 17, 2017
Mike McDonnell a.k.a. Irish Mike - Knysna

This is an open letter to Ingrid Erlank at the Knysna-Plett Herald in response to Mike McDonnell’s ‘Letter to the Editor’ that was published in their August 14 2014 edition. I also clarify my position regards public comments made on their website about me. It’s no surprise that enemies have crawled out of the Knysna woodwork after my appearance in your newspaper. Fighting causes has positioned me on the edge of a cliff some would like to push me off. On your website’s comment section, there’s someone i’ve banned from my Facebook for being biased and another lady who let … ‘Click here to read full article…’

A New Knysna-Plett Herald?

Knysna Keep Posted on Aug 9, 2014 by Mike HamptonApr 17, 2017
Knysna-Plett Herald front page August 7 2014

Anyone reading this week’s edition of the Knysna-Plett Herald (KPH) will have noted a major progression in relevant reporting. Obviously for me, and my readers, my inclusion was notable. For years, i’ve been deliberately removed from several local media. I’ve cried “foul” and done my best to grow my own media so that the biggest issues, whether i’m agreed with or not, are discussed and kept relevant. Although the KPH’s printed version of their interview with me was a personal view, much else was discussed so i’m hoping that matters much bigger than me are later given a platform too. … ‘Click here to read full article…’
