“Former public protector Thuli Madonsela says she loves the ANC, but she loves South Africa more. In an interview with Ryland Fisher, she spoke frankly about her relationship with President Jacob Zuma, rogue elements within the ruling party, her reasons for letting her ANC membership lapse, and her hopes for South Africa’s future. This was an excellent discussion with Elrick van Aswegen, the longest surviving politician in Knysna. He’s currently the Chairperson of the Section 80 Finance Committee. I joked that he’s a dinosaur… not because he’s becoming extinct but because of how tough dinosaurs had to be to survive. This offers some insight into what’s happening in our scandal plagued local government… KNYSNA RAN R12-MILLION INTO THE RED LAST MONTH Van Aswegen is concerned about the hundreds of millions Knysna owes in loans. He raises the little known fact that Knysna was, last month, R12-million in the red. He disagrees that Knysna, … ‘Click here to read full article…’
Mark Taylor is the independent candidate for Ward 10, Knysna. I had a discussion with him about our system that is rigged in favour of the major parties. Other topics included crime, drugs and the duty to the ratepayers who are funding the town. The latter, in his manifesto, reads like a highlighted point because there’s no one else, as far as i’m aware, who believes that the duty owed to ratepayers must be in proportion to their contribution: “I will promote that funding for ward infrastructure investment is to be in proportion to ward revenue contribution.” Read Mark Taylor’s … ‘Click here to read full article…’

No councillor should be free of scrutiny. They are human. They will make mistakes. They are allowed to. But after doing so they need to own them and make up for them. A politician without a mistake is a liar. My goal is find the truth… and discover whether they have sufficient strength to lead us. Regards Eleonor Bouw, Knysna’s ex-ANC Mayor who is now the DA candidate for the Ward 5 by-election to be held on July 2 2014, there hasn’t been a single question posed to her that promotes journalistic integrity. How can the tough questions not be … ‘Click here to read full article…’
We cannot solve the problems of Knysna (and South Africa) until we cross the divide and talk to one another. Armchair critics are more likely to cause damage than hot air. It’s difficult to have a true opinion about political parties, cultures and individuals unless you’ve listened and debated. I believe in action which has led to interesting, frustrating and educational chats with many. Some, like Ralph Stander and Deputy Mayor Michelle Wasserman before him, will be introduced to you here. WM: What are the 3 biggest problems facing Knysna? A: Unemployment, poverty and the big racial divide.'Click here to read full article...'
