This was an excellent discussion with Elrick van Aswegen, the longest surviving politician in Knysna. He’s currently the Chairperson of the Section 80 Finance Committee. Mark Taylor is the independent candidate for Ward 10, Knysna. I had a discussion with him about our system that is rigged in favour of the major parties. Other topics included crime, drugs and the duty to the ratepayers who are funding the town. The latter, in his manifesto, reads like a highlighted point because there’s no one else, as far as i’m aware, who believes that the duty owed to ratepayers must be in proportion to their contribution: “I will promote that funding for ward infrastructure investment is to be in proportion to ward revenue contribution.” Read Mark Taylor’s … ‘Click here to read full article…’
