Knysna has a hung council. The DA’s options are a deal with either COPE, the KUC or the ACDP. Regards coalition talks, the Western Cape ACDP posted this on their Facebook page yesterday: “The ACDP has a king maker option in Knysna, which we are considering. The unexpected deadlock in Knysna is said to have taking the blue wave by surprise, but according to sources in the town, the DA was leaning towards an alliance with Cope, instead of the ACDP. The ACDP’s Grant Haskin said his party did make gains in Knysna, which they were happy with. He hinted … ‘Click here to read full article…’
What went wrong for the DA in Knysna? How did they drop from dictatorship joy to hung Council? Firstly, credit must go where it’s deserved. Donovan Pofadder was the DA’s big surprise. They worked hard to win the new ward but i don’t believe that they could’ve expected it. Pofadder spectacularly clinched the 6th win for his party. There’s irony in Van Aswegen’s history… Internal politics found Knysna Community Forum (KCF), the party he belonged to, imploding in 2006. He quit as chairman only to watch new chairman Donald Kemoetie, … ‘Click here to read full article…’
Protests by the poor are this decade’s zeitgeist (spirit of the age). There was another service delivery protest in Knysna yesterday as residents from White Location marched to hand Mayor Georlene Wolmarans demands for electricity, toilets and housing. Such actions stir mixed feelings inside of me. As my readers will know, i’m highly critical of Knysna’s dishonest DA but ANC shirts leading anti-DA placards smacks of hypocrisy. How many of these same people protested when the ANC was in charge?
