“These are not the easiest of times, here at the southernmost tip of Africa. Socio-politically and economically there is much for us to be frustrated, angry and despondent about. As an entertainer, my job is to disperse those clouds with light, love and hopefully some laughter… ” – Terence Bridgett Back in March of this year, i published a controversial article about crime statistics on the Garden Route, comparing Knysna, George and Plettenberg Bay to one another. The most important observation was that Knysna isn’t the idyllic tourist getaway that Knysna Tourism, a rotten organisation in itself, would have you … ‘Click here to read full article…’

If you missed it, Part 2 is here. Morality is a failed motivator towards union but maybe logic and fear will do better. “Logic” because a better life for non-whites will not be achieved by (misnamed) revolution seizing homes and businesses (i’ve been threatened with that). The reward would be anarchy because once something is taken so another will want to take it from the taker. And, in all likelihood, there will subsequent service delivery problems. That is not a criticism of ability (all races have the same potential if they receive equal education) but you only have to look … ‘Click here to read full article…’
Earl Warren: “I hate banks. They do nothing positive for anybody except take care of themselves. They’re first in with their fees and first out when there’s trouble.” For all the many complaints and opinions about the Recession in Knysna, it’s disappointing that few people actually know how and why it happened. Knowing why so many Knysna businesses have gone under (or being replaced by national franchises) should be something that we not only seek but also have taught to us by our local government. As they’ve repeatedly proven, the Knysna Municipality, (DA, COPE and ANC councillors) feels no obligation … ‘Click here to read full article…’
Achille Mbembe: “Crime is fast destroying the moral fabric of South African cities and is becoming a major threat to South African democracy as well as the prominent manifestation of a class war that is largely a continuation of the race war of yesterday.” CRIME SURGE IN KNYSNA I’m well aware of crime, having experienced much of it in Durban. I’ve seen enough blood. I know what it’s like to fear for my life. Once settled in Knysna, i was a realist and expressed to others that Knysna was simply ahead of the curve and that crime was inescapable due … ‘Click here to read full article…’
I’m well aware of crime, having experienced much of it in Durban. I’ve seen enough blood. I know what it’s like to fear for my life. Once settled in Knysna, i was a realist and expressed to others that Knysna was simply ahead of the curve and that crime was inescapable due to socio-economics. People have gotten a lot poorer since then and more are abusing drugs. Crime, like an inevitable monster from a horror movie, has caught our beautiful town. So what is happening in Knysna? The majority of my neighbours have been robbed. Just last week, at 10.45am, … ‘Click here to read full article…’
On Thursday, September 1 2011, an SBV armoured vehicle parked in front of First National Bank Knysna for a pick-up. It was approximately 1.30pm, peak lunch period and the sidewalk was busy. We only have 3 main streets in Knysna and that point has the most traffic, being on the corner of Grey Street and the N2 which runs through town. There were 4 SBV guards but i don’t know if all belonged to the same vehicle as another had parked across the road, on the corner diagonally opposite, in front of the pharmacy (i need to check but that … ‘Click here to read full article…’
