Isolation only creates temporary protection and denial is not a weapon. Forget government statistics. Half our town’s residents are unemployed and much of the other half are living on low wages. The South African police are corrupt and incompetent. The media have sold their soul to advertizers instead of the pursuit of truth. Politicians make promises that, after election, become lies – their fake policies and self-enrichment transcending their duty to the public (the victim). Mega corporations work hand in hand with them, hurting instead of helping, ensuring that education and food is delivered at a price that costs far too much. I’m well aware of crime, having experienced much of it in Durban. I’ve seen enough blood. I know what it’s like to fear for my life. Once settled in Knysna, i was a realist and expressed to others that Knysna was simply ahead of the curve and that crime was inescapable due to socio-economics.
