If you haven’t realised yet, local politics is a game of power that’s about a few looking after themselves and not us in Knysna. As it stands, when there’s a new ward and two new councillor posts, the ANC will win Knysna. I don’t expect the DA to sit back and play fair by working harder to win the posts on merit. In all likelihood, they will try persuade a member of their opposition to cross over to them. A salt water powered car that can reach a top speed of 350km/h – alternative energy is cool. Imagine a world where governments said, “We’re making salt water and wind power our prerogatives. We guarantee practical, cheap solutions to our business and transport energy needs.” Travel costs drop = food price drops. Alternate energy = less pollution = less medical costs. I use this car as a metaphor. All change is within our reach if we start electing responsible leaders and actively participated in our government, ensuring they did what we ‘hired’ them to do.
