The public is to be locked out of a secret, green paper session of the Knysna Council to be held on Tuesday, August 30 2016. This could prove to be one of the most important meetings in the political history of Knysna. On the agenda is: 1. The Confirmation of Confidential Minutes of prior meetings; 2. The Acting Director Planning and Development post/situation; 3. The Acting Director Finance post/situation; 4. The outcome of the report of the investigation of the allegations against the Municipal Manager. Again, my submission of allegations of corruption to Parliament and other complaints are not going … ‘Click here to read full article…’
Although i don’t believe the ISDF (30-year plan for Knysna] is the reason for Mayor Georlene Wolmaran’s second arse-about-face in the past month (remember her aborted attempt to push it through two weeks ago), the ISDF is, in fact, a real reason not to appoint Grant Easton as Municipal Manager. It was on his watch, as Finance Director, that half a million rand was illegally paid to the illegal tender ‘winner’ of the ISDF before there was even a contract – that’s a serious failure of supply chain management but, miraculously (like Plettenberg Bay with it’s housing scandal and massive … ‘Click here to read full article…’
The Knysna-Plett Herald is featuring the resignation (effective in 2 months time) of Lauren Waring, our Municipal Manager. I was asked, as others have been, for my view. I expected them to just use one comment, if any, but see that they’ve given it attention on their website as an article entitled ‘Wall of Secrecy Removed’. No, i don’t wear that t-shirt all the time – that was a photo they took 2 months ago when they interviewed me:) Sure there will be agreements and disagreement on my views so be sure to check everyone’s opinions in today’s edition as … ‘Click here to read full article…’
From Municipal Manager Lauren Waring calling me “rude” to her quitting 3 and a half hours later, it was one of the more memorable Council Meetings held in the chambers at the Knysna Municipality in Clyde Street. Thursday, September 25 promised a long morning as the agenda, without supplementaries, was 239 pages long. The room was unexpectedly fuller which would be later explained when several were awarded for their long service and 7 new staff members were welcomed into the Knysna Municipality. It’s at this kind of meeting that Georlene Wolmarans wears the mayoral chain and her prettiest dress. Some … ‘Click here to read full article…’

Yesterday, Die Burger dropped a bomb on the Western Cape’s claim to good governance and austerity with an article entitled ‘Verdien ‘Miljoene te Veel’ (‘Earning Millions too Much’). They were referring to the fact that the majority of Municipal Managers have been awarded salaries far in excess of what they are suppose to receive according to national guidelines. In Eden District, where many of my readers stay, these are the amounts in excess of good governance:'Click here to read full article...'
‘Together We Move South Africa Forward’ declared the ANC poster. I wondered if it was a joke. Yesterday, i posted a fourth blog criticising the ANC in support of our campaign to have them remove the 20, illegal election posters attached to the heritage building in Main Street called Oaks on Main. I also emailed another request for them to do so, pointing out that they were losing doubly: not only were they getting an anti-blog, it was sucking up the time it would take me to compose a blog criticising the DA who, conveniently for the ANC, are in … ‘Click here to read full article…’
