For this complaint, I draw upon the work of activist and ex-prosecutor, Susan Campbell. She is the expert in this matter, explaining better than any of my blogs have. This matter is of the utmost importance for it decides the future of Knysna: On the 15th of April 2013, the Knysna Municipality appointed Chris Mulder’s consortium, known as Knysna Creative Heads (KCH), to prepare an Integrated Strategic Development Framework (ISDF) for Knysna. The ISDF is essentially a process to review a number of legally mandated policy documents for the Knysna Municipality. The documents that are being reviewed are the Spatial … ‘Click here to read full article…’
The Knysna ISDF, the planning for our future (and the rest of my life) has had our town in an uproar. Lauren Waring (Municipal Manager) and Mike Maughn-Brown (Town Planner and ex, and possibly future, Knysna property developer) said, “Let’s award the ISDF tender to Chris Mulder (Knysna’s biggest property developer), his wife, his son and some of their mates who’re calling themselves by the legitimate sounding name of Knysna Creative Heads Consortium (KCHC). They don’t even need a website for their business… but, hey, it’s only the next 30 years of the public’s future they’re deciding… not ours, we’ll … ‘Click here to read full article…’
Do not let this topic die! The future of Knysna is literally at stake. You’ve seen the damage to our town the past 10 years. Imagine how much more can happen over the next decade. Susan Campbell is a lawyer and environmentalist who has been fighting for transparency and redress regarding the ISDF and Chris Mulder. As with the corruption at Knysna Tourism and bloated Municipal salaries, the DA and local government (in particular Lauren Waring, Knysna’s Municipal Manager) have been extremely unhelpful so that a court battle may be the only option.'Click here to read full article...'
“Ag Pleez Deddy won’t you take us to the fun-fair We wanna have a ride on the bumper-cars We’ll buy a stick of candy floss And eat it on the Octopus Then we’ll take the rocket ship that goes to Knysna…” At the ISDF ‘Interaction’ meeting, they said nothing. At least nothing of value that would explain the future of Knysna, the blueprint that may decide the future of South Africa. Over a poor quality microphone, Municipal Manager Lauren Waring, Mayor Georlene Wolmarans and ISDF director, Dr Chris Mulder, spoke for approximately 30 minutes. They spoke with positivism so that … ‘Click here to read full article…’
Whilst Oudtshoorn and Bitou stagger through a carnage of politicians bent on gaining power at all costs, Knysna has, relatively, escaped the negative spotlight it deserves. No resident wants to discourage tourists, business ventures or new home owners but the sheer scale of the problem insists that it be addressed before it reaches a point of no return. The implementation of the ISDF (Integrated Strategic Development Framework) may be that tipping point. What is the ISDF? It’s a plan to shape the future of Knysna. It will decide where houses and businesses go, how cultures will integrate, what areas will … ‘Click here to read full article…’
