2016 Knysna Women’s 7s Rugby is postponed until next month after Knysna Municipality pulled out of the tournament AGAIN. The highly anticipated tournament has a core focus of highlighting the problem of rape & violence against women & children. 8 provincial, 8 club and 16 school teams (480 participants) were confirmed to attend the 2016 event. This included SA’s top female referees. It was a very sad situation when we had to cancel and postpone the event. We also lost our provincial teams as most of the provincial sides wanted to use the tournament to prepare for the National 7s … ‘Click here to read full article…’
Do any of you truly understand what is happening in your town? If not, why not? I will post a lot more info this week to prove my point regards my header featuring Helen Zille who is by far my biggest failed heroine. She is the Premier of the Western Cape. Her job is primarily to work for us and look after us. She hasn’t. She turns up just before elections and boasts about her good deeds instead of talking about real issues that affect our town. Shake off your bias and judge by actions and reality, not your fears. … ‘Click here to read full article…’
The latest Community Services Committee meeting was held yesterday, June 10 2014, and included a report back from Eden District Health on the pollution levels of the Knysna Estuary. These are the offending samples taken from recreational and stormwater culverts: Green Hole (opposite Bosuns) – 591 E.Coli/100ml Bongani stormwater – 2419 E.Coli/100ml Queens Street stormwater (2 readings) – 2419 E.Coli/100ml / 3000 E.Coli/100ml Train Station stormwater – 3000 E.Coli/100ml Popular areas such as Bollard Bay, The Point and Crabs Creek … ‘Click here to read full article…’
It’s been an interesting year filled with joys and challenges. I find it important to remind myself (and you) what this is all for. It’s been 4 years of offering free services to Knysna. In the beginning, it was simply to make a contribution to this town i love so much but, as hardships became apparent, the goal broadened into wanting to create positive change. This has meant wearing two hats; one that boasts about our town’s beauties whilst the other tackles the problems that threaten her.'Click here to read full article...'
Download or listen to the audio version – ‘Parody of Poo’ June 23 2012: Nicci Rousseau-Schmidt (head of Knysna PR, PR for Knysna Tourism and employee of Worldsport) rushed to calm tourist fears about the upcoming Pick ‘n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival. “Yes, there’s faeces-induced bacteria in the Knysna Estuary but there is absolutely no reason for this season’s visitors to worry at all. Our oysters are safe because they aren’t our oysters. We import them from Port Elizabeth, Mosselbay and Saldanha Bay. I know that’s confusing but we also call our estuary a lagoon. If anything, we should be … ‘Click here to read full article…’
We cannot solve the problems of Knysna (and South Africa) until we cross the divide and talk to one another. Armchair critics are more likely to cause damage than hot air. It’s difficult to have a true opinion about political parties, cultures and individuals unless you’ve listened and debated. I believe in action which has led to interesting, frustrating and educational chats with many. Some, like Ralph Stander and Deputy Mayor Michelle Wasserman before him, will be introduced to you here. WM: What are the 3 biggest problems facing Knysna? A: Unemployment, poverty and the big racial divide.'Click here to read full article...'
I can’t state that they are corrupt because, for example, if they were apathetic, uncaring or lazy, they could sue me for slander. But i can ask: “IS KNYSNA TOURISM AND THE DA COUNCIL CORRUPT?” Of course, i include the Knysna Tourism Board in that. For 34 days i’ve tried to gain information that should be available to the public. I have had no success after contacting the following people: Tourism CEO & DA Member – Shaun Van Eck Tourism Economic Development Officer – Marlene Tourism Board Member & DA Mayor – Georlene Wolmarans Tourism Board Member & Municipal Manager … ‘Click here to read full article…’
