Kyle Maspero, the alleged co-murderer of his girlfriend’s mother, Rosemary Theron, has been declared fit to stand trial. Previously, i had blogged about people in Knysna being very upset at seeing Maspero walking around town whilst he awaited a bed at Valkenberg Psychiatric Hospital, an observation ordered by the court after Maspero (as we now discover) claimed amnesia. The March 2013 murder of Rosemary Theron shocked Knysna. Not only had she been a long-term resident of the town before moving to Cape Town but the young, alleged murderers (her daughter, Phoenix Theron and her boyfriend, Kyle Maspero) and body-moving accomplice (Godfrey Scheepers) had lived in Knysna too. Phoenix Theron (19) has confessed to the premeditated murder of her mother, Rosemary Theron (39). She has implicated Kyle Maspero (18), her lover, who is currently on bail in Knysna. She has confirmed the admittance by Godfrey Scheepers (20), a friend, that he had helped Kyle move the body. The Weekend Argus reports that she cried as her attorney read her statement which related a broken childhood involving sexual abuse, drugs, an abortion and more.
