Hot on the heels of the R27,000 Gray Street drug bust is the news that the Knysna SAPS arrested two men in Fraaisig who had an estimated R600,000 worth of tik and mandrax hidden in the panel of the Toyota Tazz they were driving. The bust was allegedly the result of a tip-off. The suspects are due to appear in the Knysna Magistrates’ Court this morning. Read the full article which only appears on the Crime Site website. The police never respond to me so if anyone else can confirm or add detail, please share.'Click here to read full article...'
Bruce Botha and another Knysna resident (who wishes to be unnamed) both successfully applied for a stay of prosecution at the Cape High Court this week. Both were raided at home and arrested (at different times) for cannabis plants growing in their gardens. They cannot be prosecuted until after the Constitutional Court rules on cannabis usage. This is expected to take place in 2016. The Facebook pages of the Dagga Party and Fields of Green for All, a non-profit organization, both announced the good news on May 23 2015: “Knysna, the precedent has been set. Two more Stays in Prosecution … ‘Click here to read full article…’
Last month, two ladies contacted me in the hope that i could point them towards marijuana oil as they had relatives dying of cancer. They never got any and both those patients are now dead. Many of you will be aware, through similar family and friend experiences, that it’s a painful way to die. A large portion of this town seems to smoke marijuana and whether you agree with it or not, the battle to prevent weed-smoking is lost. Worse is that it has allowed the Knysna SAPS to up their drug bust figures which obscures, as many of us … ‘Click here to read full article…’
There are things beyond our control but things within our reach too. Why has our Mayor, Georlene Wolmarans, reached for nothing? In this letter, sent on May 31 2011, just before i was suppose to have my first official meeting with her, i mentioned my fears for our town; our racial divide, the financial challenges ahead, tik and more. The best way to get Knysna ahead was to work together. Instead, as the past 3 years have shown, the DA and the Knysna Municipality built a wall between us and them. I had one of my readers contact me to say how weird she felt bumping into Kyle Maspero on Leisure Isle whilst “Racy” was in jail and “Rosie” was dead. Coincidentally, some mates and i had also bumped into him a week before that, also on Leisure Isle, at Green Hole – he and his foster father, Martin Hatchuel, were taking their dogs for a walk. Kyle Maspero and his girlfriend, Phoenix Theron, were accused of killing her mother, Rosemary Theron, in Cape Town in 2013. Phoenix has since confessed and been sentenced to jail. Kyle has been on bail … ‘Click here to read full article…’
Yesterday, hours after i posted Trading Tik for Sex, someone who hadn’t read it told me that someone i used to work with had become a tik addict and committed suicide. Like many tragedies involving drugs in Knysna, it did not make the news. He was one of several white people i’ve known on the drug. I make the skin distinction because so many white people in Knysna don’t see it as their problem although rumours of tik abuse in the recent murder of Rosemary Theron raised eyebrows. I want to do more than raise eyebrows and ram home that … ‘Click here to read full article…’
Pardon the swearing. Like most websites, i occasionally get some interesting or sexually suggestive search strings landing up on some of my websites. Such online, very human nature (for we are beauties and flaws), i normally take with a pinch of salt BUT, today, a search string appalled me because i fear it’s the Garden Route we’re becoming: “Girls wants to be fuck for tik in Oudtshoorn.” That someone thought that as a possible successful search for sex is damn maddening.'Click here to read full article...'
You can download this as an MP3 (on PC, right-click, Save) Or go here to get the whole Truth Talks #1 CD I have met many drug addicts and a few parents of drug addicts in Knysna, my home town in South Africa. My first neighbour here was a heroin addict. One day, in his car on the way back from Pick ‘n Pay, he surprised me with a detour into White Location to score. Cocaine was happening at Swing Café where i provided entertainment (i was there for 6 months a month after it first opened). One recovering addict i … ‘Click here to read full article…’
You can download this as an MP3 (on PC, right-click, Save) Or go here to get the whole Truth Talks #1 CD Tik is one of the most dangerous drugs in the world and nowhere more concentrated than on the Cape Flats in the Western Province of South Africa where in 1 in every 10 children have tried it. It’s reached my little home town of Knysna, 450km up the Eastern coast, eating at our slogan, “The Beautiful Town”, and scaring me shitless. I’m forced to refer to outside resources as the reason for me blogging is because of the … ‘Click here to read full article…’
There is a lack of information on many important issues involving Knysna. Many have opinions but don’t have sufficient facts to do so. Sadly, in encounters i’ve had with some of Knysna’s leaders and workers, they lack knowledge too. I’m hoping that these questions will be a step towards not only informing the public better but also making them question. And i hope that it leads to questions and answers by our leaders and media too. Too this end, below will be emailed to local members of all political parties, municipal managers, schools, charities and local media. I’ve started with … ‘Click here to read full article…’
